I have an interesting little thing happen to me yesterday. As most of you know I'm in a wheelchair but am able to stand up and load my chair in the back of my car. I use a folding chair as a walker to get back to the drivers seat. Well I was putting my chair in the back of the car and my driveway has a small incline and the street is also up a small hill that leads to the main roadway. As I was lifting the chair in it slipped out of my hands and I watched it go rolling down the driveway bounce off the car next door then slowly keep going and then bounce off the trash can then keep going down the street and stopped in the middle of the main road. All this time I'm yelling help and hoping it will stop. I watched as cars would slow down and just drive around it. Its as if everyone is used to seeing a wheelchair sitting in the middle of the road. I sat there and watched all this time as I was trying to call Martha on my cell phone and have her come out and rescue my chair. She was asleep at the time and thought I was joking with her. She finaly came out in her robe and sleepware and brought it back to me so I could leave for work. Well thats my story and I had to share it with you. It was scary at the time but now its kind of funny because I can just imagine the look on my face as I watched this all in slow motion saying to myself it will stop at the car next door and then the trash can will stop it and then the panic setting in as it headed down the street. On top of that trying to explain what was going on to someone half asleep.

Note to self: watch out for wheelchairs in the middle of the road while driving thru Santee.

But seriously, I'm glad no one or anything was hurt by the runaway chair.

Reward ,for information leading to the owner of a wheelchair that cause major damage to a trash can.. Eye witness said the trash can never saw it coming. It was reported that an un-identified woman in her robe retrieve the wheel chair. any one with Information should contact
